In this training, the neurocognitive disorders associated with acquired brain injuries will be reviewed and discussed, with respect to their recognition, assessment, and relationship to the sites of injury to the brain.
Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this training, program participants will be able to:
- Define the basic organization of the central nervous system (CNS) and functional neuroanatomy of the human brain.
- List the indications for, and components of, neuropsychological assessment for individuals who have sustained an acquired brain injury.
- Describe the specific neurocognitive sequelae of ABI, and their relationship to the sites of injury within the brain.
- Identify strategies for recognizing and addressing the neurocognitive consequences of ABI, and when indicated, the development of cognitive support plans.
